Hello, Darks!
In this guide i will show you how to secure you'r web server & site from HTTP DoS attacks & Flood
1st step.
Go to START MENU, click to "Settings" & open "Control Panel" -> now open & "Windows FireWall"
2nd step.
When you already opened "WFW" go to sub-menu "Exceptions" -> then click to "Add Program..." -> then click to "Browse..." -> and select you'r directory ... default for AppServ is "C:\AppServ\Apache\bin\httpd.exe" u need to allow just "httpd.exe" -> so... when you already select the directory click to "Ok"
3rd step.
Open sub-menu "Advanced" select you'r "Local Area Connection" click to "Settings" -> and put the "Tick/Bookmark" - on "Secure Web Server (HTTPS)", "Telnet Server" & "Web Server (HTTP)" and click to "Ok"
Now... select sub-menu "Services" in "Local Area Connection" -> "Settings" -> "ICMP" and allow first row, "Allow incoming echo request" -> and click to "Ok"
4th step.
In "Advanced" look for "Security logging..." click to -> "Settings" and set "tick/bookmark" to "Log successful connections" and click to "Ok"
Final 5 step...
In "Advanced" look for "ICMP" click to "Settings" and allow "Allow incomming echo request" -> click to "Ok" & click to "Ok"
Result: You'r server now is more protected from HTTP & DoS attacks
If u want more secure for you'r web server & site, open C:/AppServ/Apache/conf/httpd.conf -> search for "#LoadModule ssl_module modules/mod_ssl.so"
replace with "LoadModule ssl_module modules/mod_ssl.so"
What is SSL? -> Secure Sockets Layer, more info here
Save, close & Restart to you'r web server.
